Mansar Village Development Programme

Mansar is a small village of Halvad Taluka of Morbi District located around 60 KM from the district headquarters. The total geographical area of village is 649.69 hectares. Mansar has a total population of 839 peoples, out of which male population is 429 while female population is 410. 

Mansar Gram Panchayat approached the foundation to improve health and hygiene in the village by enhancing sanitation infrastructure. The foundation carried out meetings and conducted focused group discussions with Sarpanch and gram panchayat members. In the meetings, importance of proper sanitation and waste disposal was discussed in detail.  The gram panchayat unanimously passed resolutions and identified support they needed. The villagers shared their concerns like lack of sanitation and disposal of grey water, proper road, water stagnation, lack of proper disposal of waste. These issues were affecting overall health and hygine of the people. The panchayat members also suggested to have proper place of leisure like garden and open space for community get together.

Underground Drainage System

Mansar Village Panchayat was facing various issues because of outdated drainage system. There was a need to upgrade old system and connect all house with the drainage line. The foundation met village leaders and members of gram panchayat to understand the issues. After detailed planning, the old drainage was renovated and replaced with an advance and effective draining system connecting 100% houses in the village. Each house is provided with a cement soak pit. The entire system properly collects the gray water and disposes it. The entire project benefits more than 800 habitants of the village. Removing household wastewater is an important environmental health intervention for reducing disease. 

Cemented/RCC road with streetlights and CCTV Cameras

The village faced problems due to potholes and  it was becoming difficult for people to commute.  There was water stagnation during rainy season and further it led to breeding of mosquitos. The foundation carried out a survey and in consultation with gram panchayat decided to construct  the main road, other roads that lead to the village and the lanes with RCC road. Presently, the entire village is covered with RCC road and the problem of water stagnation and potholes is solved.  The new RCC road has made movement of vehicles smooth and commuting of people easy. 

The entire road, including the main and several small roads, have been rebuilt and replaced with an RCC/cemented road that measures around 140000 feet. The road is pothole-free, and numerous pothole-related difficulties such as water stagnation have been addressed. Streetlights are installed on the cement roads to make commuting easier during night.

Prevention is better than cure, taking into consideration the overall security of the village the panchayat requested installing CCTV camera in the entire village. The gram panchayat is now able to monitor and do surveillance of the village.  All the major areas of the village are monitored regularly enhancing the supervision of the village.

The entire village is covered with RCC road including all the lanes and main roads.

Garden and Pond beautification 

The Gram Panchayat was planning to add scenic beauty to the village and construct garden. The foundation agreed and developed a beautiful garden for the village near the pond. The pond was cleaned and proper boundary was made around it. Today, all the villagers visit the garden and use if for different purpose like leisure, morning walk and yoga. The plantation in the garden provide pure air and enhances environmental eco-system.
